Hi. I’m Rachel Anne Wurman, a Dance Educator, Choreographer, and Dance Curricula Writer/Developer for the NYCPS. Proud to also represent Language of Dance as a Master Practitioner and Certified YogaKids Teacher. Welcome to my page.

Rachel Anne Wurman's Bio:

Rachel Anne Wurman, MA taught, directed, and choreographed for Frank Sinatra School of the Arts and her classes were featured on NBC’s Weekend Today, CNN, Univision, and Tavis Smiley. At Sinatra, she taught musical theatre dance techniques, dance and musical theatre histories, and motif writing for the Dance Department. She directed the Musical Theatre Program for two years and choreographed for this program for three years. She is the General Manager of the LODC and a Language of Dance Master Practitioner. Rachel is a NYC Dance Educators Leadership Training Alliance Facilitator, and was the Manhattan Dance Coach for Teacher Effectiveness/Arts and a contributing writer for NYC Blueprint and NYS Learning Standards for the Arts Alignment booklet. She served as the first NE Representative of the NDEO National Elections Committee. She proudly received the first ever New York State Dance Education Association K-12 Award in 2014. Her professional career began after graduating from Syracuse University when this actor, singer and dancer performed and choreographed for many theatres in Pennsylvania and New York, including Salt City Center, Salt Works, The New Works Festival at City Theatre and the Penn Avenue Theatre for The Club, named best choreography of 2000 by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. She performed in R&B artist Michael Ashanti’s music video, appeared in numerous commercials and tv shows, and earned her SAG/AFTRA card. She earned her MA in Dance and Dance Education and K-12 NYS Dance Certification from New York University, holds additional certification through Dance Educators of America and Dance Education Laboratory (DEL), and is a Certified YogaKids Teacher. While at NYU, Rachel performed and taught with the Kaleidoscope dance company. Upon graduation, Rachel was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Dance Education Graduate Program award. After graduation, she directed and developed the curriculum for the PS 163 dance program for which she was featured in The New York Times. Rachel completed Luigi’s Technique and Style intensive and the Simonson Method of Teacher Training. Ms. Wurman is currently implementing her curriculum, and working as Dance Educator and Choreographer for the dance program at PS 11 in Manhattan.
